Reporting cybercrime

Half of businesses (50%) and around a third of charities (32%) report having experienced some form of cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months. By far the most common type of breach or attack is phishing (84% of businesses and 83% of charities).  UK businesses and organisations have experienced approximately 7.78 million cybercrimes of all types in the last 12 months

 

This week, Cricklewood Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) teamed up with Cyber Resilience Centre in London to share valuable guidance with the independent local businesses on preventing cybercrime and fraud. 

 

For more advice and resources, please see the information below: 

  • If you are a business, charity or other organisation currently suffering a live cyber attack, or think you may have been the victim of fraud or cybercrime and incurred a financial loss or have been hacked, you should report this.

     

  • Please call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or use Action Fraud’s online reporting service https://reporting.actionfraud.police.uk/login. Alternatively you can call your local Police at any time on 101.

     

  • If you think an email is suspicious, you can report it by forwarding the email to report@phishing.gov.uk. Your report will help government agencies to act quickly

     

  • Report spam calls and suspicious text messages to 7726 – it's free. This will report the message to your mobile phone provider who will block or ban the number.

     

  • Report a website you think is a scam to https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/phishing-scams/report-scam-website.

     

  • Report a scam advert to https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/phishing-scams/report-scam-advert. You might see these adverts hosted on websites, or while using a search engine or social media.
